Based in Western Australia, Rod Marton has spent the last
decade developing his high level skills in the sport of Ironman. He is a 6 time World
Championships (Kona) qualifier with a top 20 finish on the big island in two of
the toughest age groups, the M40 - 44 and M45 - 49. He has also qualified at 5 different races
including the Texas IM (USA X 2), New Zealand (1) and Cairns, Melbourne and Busselton (Australia X3). He has represented
his country twice in ITU age group world championship events (one in Australia and one in Hungary) and been his state
champion over 3 different ITU distances in a single year.
Rod is also a nationally accredited triathlon
coach and has a Bachelor’s degree in Education including a major in Physical
Education (including bio-mechanics, anatomy and programming/training)
He has delivered a number of Ironman presentations to state level triathlon
communities, local triathlon clubs and interested general pubic. His knowledge and ability to convey
information makes him a rare asset to the triathlon community in helping others
to achieve their long distance goals.
Rather than setting specific programs like other coaches, Rod concentrates on
other key aspects of the Ironman Journey. His belief is that mental
strength, nutrition, preparation, goal setting and preparation fundamentals are just as
important, if not more important, than the physical training.
